THE BACK STORY
My beloved late sister, Lynnae Janse van Rensburg fell in love with beer while travelling in Europe and started brewing her own beer when she returned. Somewhere in the middle of that she qualified as a chef and ended up working in the magazine industry. Brewing beer was tough at these times; the internet was full of amazing resources for home brewers, but here in South Africa the options were limited. Waiting for stock to arrive from Jhb (or overseas) was annoying, costly, and the lack of options for ingredients was frustrating.
When Lynnae started BeerLab she had no idea how tough and fun it would be at the same time, or how fast the shop would grow. She went from operating out of a spare room in her house in Observatory to a light industrial unit in Thornton in 5 months. Less than a year later Beerlab moved to a very large shop in Ndabeni and currently Beerlab is operating from 239B Lower Main rd, Observatory, Cape Town.
I have taken over my beloved sister’s Beerlab, and we are committed to honoring her legacy by upholding the high standards of quality ingredients and exceptional service that she built into the business.
