Made from food-grade plastic (typically Styrene Acrylonitrile / SAN resin), meeting strict European union regulations for plastics intended to come into contact with food. It will not leach harmful chemicals when used normally with cold or room-temperature beverages.

SAN plastic typically has a maximum continuous service temperature of around 75°C to 85°C.  Boiling water exceeds this limit.
